The number of people working in the transport and logistics sector continues to grow. Proof that it is future-proof and remains attractive. TransDirect is doing its part. As a modern and ambitious start-up, it is making its mark on the sector. Growing and allowing partners to grow with it is TransDirect's motto.
The transport and logistics sector provided 193,321 people with a job at the end of last year. That's according to the National Social Security Administration. A year ago there were 186,290. So the corona crisis has not been able to halt the advance. 'T&L' remains a sector that keeps reinventing itself and looking for new people.
Finding new people, however, is not obvious. In November 2022, the VDAB website counted over 28,000 vacancies that you could link to transport and logistics. This year's bottleneck occupations list includes 15 positions within the transport and logistics sector. A heavy statistical bottleneck job in the category 'drivers in road transport' is still 'tractor-trailer driver'. On a positive note, at the start of the new school year in September, 300 students started truck driver training. Also positive is the number of vehicles of companies in professional freight transport. In 2022, this increased by 6.4% compared to last year. In total, 81,131 motor vehicles will be involved in 2022, according to the Federal Public Service of Mobility and Transport.
